event | Welles & Welles Show
Feb 21, 2015 - Mar 01, 2015
From February 21 through March 1st Goldenstein Gallery in West Sedona will exclusively be exhibiting Welles and Welles featuring the artwork of renowned filmmaker Orson Welles and his daughter Beatrice Welles.
As prolific as Orson was as an author and filmmaker, he was constantly painting and sketching as well. Considered a child prodigy as a musician, painter and magician, his mother died when he was nine and at eleven he was enrolled in the progressive Todd School in Woodstock, Illinois. After graduation in 1930, he spent a summer at the Chicago Art Institute. His father died in late December 1930, and the following August Welles set out for a walking and painting tour of Ireland.
Beatrice Welles distinctive design aesthetic was cultivated at the hands of her parents. Daughter of the legendary film auteur Orson Welles and Countess Paola Girifalco, her childhood was largely spent in Europe. Some of her earliest memories involve traveling with her parents and being on her father’s film sets.
Beatrice follows in the footsteps of her father using her unique vision in diverse ways. She has designed a line of Handbags, Handbag adornments, and Handbag Couture which have been collected internationally.
