'Their vibrant feathers make peacocks one of the most unique birds on the planet. Revered in cultures around the globe, their striking display gives them a sense of beauty, majesty, strength and charisma. The national bird of India, peacocks have been the themes of ancient Indian stories, poems and songs, as symbols of love, joy, peace, beauty and poise. Yet peacocks have another unique quality, known for their ability to transmute poison into amrita or nectar, they can eat poisonous plants and snakes without harming themselves. Therefore, in Buddhism, the peacock is a symbol of the great Bodhisattvas who transform mental and emotional “poisons,” into a path of awakening or Bodhichitta*, they represent compassion and watchfulness. Also honored as a symbol of purity, their feathers are used in Buddhist purification ceremonies signifying acceptance, openness and enlightenment. As a sacred totem or spirit animal, they remind you to be confident in what you do. Do not lose sight of your inner and outer beauty and the unique qualities that make you the person you are. *(Bodhichitta is the altruistic intention to achieve enlightenment for the sake of all living beings.) ***Also Available in various sizes as a Limited Edition Giclee"
